Infocomm 2015

Wrapped up a trip to the AV MECCA known as Infocomm. This year in Orlando there was plenty to see and experience. Here are a few highlights we wanted to share:

Cyviz announced a partnership with Pexip including integration with their platform for interoperation of virtual meeting rooms. What you end up with is a powerful collaboration space with flexible options for multi-platform conferencing and information sharing in an extremely simplified way. Crestron was showcasing it’s integration with Microsoft Surface Hub, furthering it’s commitment to a partnership with the software giant and demonstrating some of the new features. Of course Microsoft had the displays in abundance at their booth as well, with steady interest from large groups throughout the show. The two auto-sensing cameras switch to the left or right depending on where the speaker is, particularly relevant if a presenter is working up at the touch screen. And the pressure sensitive pen was one of the most responsive we have seen on any display, allowing for a natural writing experience.

Barco enjoyed popularity with their single chip DLP laser phosphor projectors, which won a Best of Show award, and shared some enhancements to their award winning Clickshare line. But it was also impressive to see and use their interactive touch OSV rear projected large screen system. With various screen sizes as well as curved or straight walls and 60,000 hour LED lamps projecting the images, many large meeting rooms, collaboration spaces, decision centres and operation centres will benefit from these systems.

Planar was showing it’s typically stunning and brilliant array of panels, video walls and 4K visual magic. Of note were their LED wall panels at a 1.6 pitch, and the innovative EasyAlign mounting system. This does not only allow for easy install, aiding the technicians, but results in an incredible final image that the buyer and the viewers will unquestionably appreciate.

Additionally, Planar was demonstrating their “transparent OLED” technology which generated a buzz. This points the way towards next-gen technology where monitors and walls of glass become an operator’s display. The future looks clear, brilliant and transparent.
